Helping the Community
Community service is a very important part of my life. I try to help in every event I can to further my experience in community service. Each year my school hosts an annual Bocce Ball tournament for local mentally handicapped people. It is one of my favorite community service events because I get to see people with disabilities be able to do something they usually would not have the opportunity to do. Although community service is not about rewarding yourself, being able to see the look on their faces when they gain a point for their team is priceless. Another community service activity I participated in was going to Panama City, Florida, with my church and helping the food shelter and Salvation Army. That was an experience I will never forget because I learned so much about how people have to live when they have lost everything. Seeing what goes on in homeless shelters and places that deal with situations like that really opened my eyes to something I have never had the opportunity to experience. I hope that I will be able to do a project like this again soon.
